Industrial operations often rely on steam flow systems that power production, heating, and energy transfer across critical processes. Yet, these systems often operate with limited visibility. Undetected inefficiencies, leaks, and failures in components such as steam traps or pressure relief valves can lead to significant energy losses, safety risks, and costly unplanned downtime.
The digital transformation of industrial assets is changing that. The NEON Sonic extends this transformation to critical flow components in steam systems. It delivers near real-time monitoring and diagnostics for assets that previously remained unmonitored, helping facilities reduce emissions, prevent failures, and ensure compliance while keeping operations running safely and efficiently.
NEON Sonic offers a cutting-edge LoRaWAN-enabled solution that combines acoustic and temperature sensing in a single probe, providing continuous, reliable monitoring of steam traps and other critical assets such as pressure relief valves.

The sensor measures Sound Pressure Level (SPL), Temperature, and Ambient Temperature, providing continuous, reliable monitoring of steam traps and critical assets. NEON Sonic sends alerts to maintenance engineers, as soon as their assets start to fail. With fail alerts, seamless integration into existing DCS/SCADA systems, and backed by proven IoT technology, NEON Sonic ensures efficient maintenance and reduced energy losses. Its robust design delivers up to 7 years of battery life, making it a low-maintenance choice for long-term industrial deployment. All in the reliable NEON form factor that comes as a battery-powered I-IoT device, communicating wirelessly via LoRaWAN, with the option for an IECEx / ATEX Zone 0 certification, if required or wanted.
IECEx / ATEX Zone 0 certified
Designed for industry from the very beginning, TWTG’s NEON product line is built to not only operate in industrial sites where explosive gases are being handled but also all other elements that a sensor may be exposed to in the course of its > 7 years* lifetime (at 25°C). It has been tested and certified to work in conditions from -40° to 450° Celsius without hampering performance. The devices are designed and engineered in such a way that they can be safely and securely deployed in a wireless network and are remotely configurable, ensuring not only longevity but also reliability within an operation.
Additionally, TWTG delivers spare parts and product lifecycle support. It has an extremely long lifetime and therefore, the sensor can continue to be used with the correct refurbishment kit. This way, periodical maintenance can be kept at a minimum.
NEON Sonic can be installed / mounted using a pipe clamp.
NEON Vibration Sensor non-Ex Variant
The NEON Sonic is also available in a non-ATEX / IECEx certified version, tailored for industrial environments where such certification is not required. Built with the same standards as the ATEX / IECEx certified version, this sensor delivers the same high-precision acoustic and temperature sensing.
This version is ideal for facilities outside of explosive zones, such as manufacturing, pulp and paper, water management, and automation, offering all the benefits of the known NEON capabilities and features without the need for intrinsic safety compliance.

With the trusted NEON form factor, full LoRaWAN compatibility, and industry-grade resilience, this sensor offers a powerful, cost-effective solution for widespread asset monitoring – engineered to perform for over a decade in the field.

NEON Product Line – LoRa devices designed for heavy industry
The TWTG NEON product range supports all industrial customers moving towards LoRaWAN as the Industrial IoT network of the future. The LoRaWAN network gives industrial operations a secure solution, which has no vendor lock-in, scales up to tens of thousands of sensors, covers complete sites with only a small amount of gateways, and best of all – the low-power approach means that the lifetime of NEON products can be extended dramatically. This international networking technology is quickly becoming the industry standard.
NEON stands for a standardized approach to collecting data points from within the operation and a general approach to creating integrated solutions with existing IT ecosystems.
